Wardrobe Wednesday: But it's cold....

I am the first to admit that I HATE this weather. Hate it. And what I'd truly like to do is hibernate until the sun comes out again.

Sadly this isn't an option, so here are my picks if one must go and brave the frozen tundra...

Vintage 70s Cable knit sweater dress $68 FASHIONRERUN.etsy.com

Vintage Snow Belle Coat $115 MariesVintage.etsy.com

Tuesday trends - New Romantic

I'm all about girlie this week - and I love the new trend of mixing and mashing different materials. Think lace, wool, leather, and nylon all in one outfit!

This nighty from SpunSugarVintage.etsy.com would make a fab dress with a nude slip underneath. Add a cotton or wool knot top like this one from Lirola.etsy.com

And some cute patterned tights:

And you're all set!

Wardrobe Wednesday!

A new feature here at Blythe Hopes Vintage - Wardrobe Wednesday! Every Wednesday, we'll bring you a capsule wardrobe for various occasions - helping you to stay styling whatever life throws at you!

This week - Office Space:

A lot of the time if you work in an office, it's very temping to fall back on basic, plain, and - let's face it - boring clothes. No more! Wearing colour and adding interesting details will make you stand out from the crowd - and if you look good, you feel good!

An easy way to add colour is a fabulous blouse - I found these on etsy.com :

70s purple pinstriped VICTORIAN blouse -M-L- tractordog.etsy.com

Bright Red Ruffle blouse - OtherPeoplesProperty

Sheer Lemon Chiffon Vintage 30s 40s Silk Blouse Top - fabgabs.etsy.com

A well fitting, structured blazer is another brilliant staple - it will add instant professionalism - and for a more interesting look try going for one in velvet of tweed as opposed to a standard suit material.

Vintage skinny fit SHRUNKEN blazer camel corduroy -renouveauclothing.etsy.com

Vtg 70s Burgundy VELVET Jacket Fitted BLAZER - apocalypsevintage.etsy.com

Four Star 40s Bronze Beaded Nipped Waist Jacket M L - hautecountryvintage.etsy.com

And of course - you can't possibly go wrong with a pencil skirt - I found these two at mimisgamine.etsy.com:

Oh Edward...

I've become rather obessed with Twilight lately (Thanks Holly) and so it stands to reason that I'd name the new love of my life after Edward Cullen....

He's a vintage Singer model 348, which I found at my favourit thrift for all of $15 :)
What's great is now not only can I make my Zombie Dolls a lot faster - but I can also make all the pretty clothes I want!

It's well exciting ♥
I'm working on a blouse to go with the blue and cream kirt right now, and pulling a pattern off a bed jacket. I'm not happy with the neck line on the first dress either - I may pull it down into a v - I'm not sure that high neck really suits someone as flat chested as myself lol.

ROAD TRIP!

I LOVE summer - I've been so excited lately, chucking my windows open, cleaning the house, taking the wee one off to the park... Why isn't summer all year?

In honour of my favourite season - check out the new stock I've been working on:

On a side note - I've also found an amazing self tan that actually comes out a nice colour on red heads - BananaBoat airbrush Color - helps if someone else sprays you though!

Plus size Vintage????

I've heard so many time 'I'd love to wear vintage - but it's all so small....'

So, my mission de jour is to hunt down some fabulous spring vintage pretties for the curvy girls out there :)

I found this gorgeous 60s mini dress from ParlorOfCuriousities, What I love is that it has 3/4 length sleeves - which is perfect if you have arm paranoia - and the colours are great for spring!

$39.50

EndlessVintage has this beautiful dress - and a beautiful model! This 60s shape hangs really well on larger figures - and still look super stylish. Plus - how much easier is it to throw on a dress and boots, rather than sweat pants, t shirt, sweater, jacket.....

$30

I adore this 40s dress from hautecountryvintage - this dusty pink is so in this spring:

ThickandThinVintage has the nautical trend down with this fabulous top:

Trend Watch - Brights

The catwalk were full of brights this Spring - it's possibly my least favourite trend - but that's mainly due to the fact I'm a pasty pale red head. But if you can pull it off, check out these fab vintage etsy finds!

I was on the Front Page...

.....Kinda. My face was!

The Look for Less

As you know, I'm all about supporting small businesses in this terrible economy - especially my fellow etsy sellers. When I buy something on etsy, I know the money is going directly into someone's mortgage - or buying nappies, or new supplies.

I recently came across Tracy Feith's new collection for Target, and it stuck me that the whole look is readily available from vintage sellers on etsy.

The Look: Geometric prints, A Line Mini Dresses, bright colours.

Target: $29.99 Cassie's Attic: $5.50

The Look: 70s Floral, Prairie Girl Maxi

Target: $44.99 thirteenleafclover: $16

Target: $44.99 cloudninevintage: $60

Oh - and the white dress from CloudNine? Frederick's of Hollywood.
